We spent a few hours touring the old historic seaport town of Astoria, which is connected to the state of Washington by a very long bridge over the Columbia River as it enters the Pacific Ocean. It is the oldest settlement west of the Rockies, dating to 1805. There is even a very old Joann's Fabric Store, which Irene just had to visit.
