Gettysburg, PA

6/20/07 - 6/22/07
Well, the good news is that we are in Gettysburg, a place we've both wanted very much to see. The bad news is that we damaged the right side of the coach trying to get into Artillery Ridge Campground.
Approaching it from a very winding, hilly and narrow two-lane road, we missed the "in" entrance, so had to make a very sharp right turn into the "exit". We did not realize that the campground driveway dropped off sharply from the main road.
As our coach has a long overhang past the rear wheels, we caught our right-rear levelling jack (which hangs too low anyway) on a hidden decorative rock, causing the jack to bend up. As soon as the rear wheels hit the lower pavement, the lower compartment doors smashed against the pavement.
The resulting damage cost $2900 to fix --- our insurance paid for everything less our $500 deductible. But what an effort to get this damage repaired!! More on this later. Our second "rookie" mistake.
