Rehoboth Beach, DE

6/6/07- to 6/17/07
Our first trip as fulltimers was to the beach, naturally! We stayed at Big Oaks Campground, about a ten-minute drive to the beach. Spent time in their pool as well as driving to the beach every day. Of course, we also visited the Outlets several times to buy additional must-haves for our coach.

Rehoboth Beach was also the scene of our first big "rookie" mistake. The campground directions (which they've since changed) instructed us to make a U-Turn at a certain intersection on Route 1 Southbound- Route 1 is a 10-lane highway. Well, we tried but couldn't make it from the turn lane- not with a 40' motor home pulling a Honda CRV! We stopped Route 1 northbound traffic for at least 10 minutes while we unhooked the CRV, backed up into the southbound lane and negotiated the turn. Three teenagers came over to help us, stopping the northbound traffic and helping to unhook our car which was at a bad angle for unhooking. Boy, were we grateful!
