-----Arches National Park, continued

It is difficult to imagine the violent forces or the 100 million years of erosion, that created this land that boasts one of the world's greatest densities of natural arches.

Over 2000 catalogued arches range in size from a 3-ft. opening (the minimum to be considered an arch) to the longest, Landscape Arch, measuring 306 ft. base to base.
---Upper Left: the requisite photo of Irene, in front of a magnificent arch, "Sand Dune Arch", that we got to see by a short, hot walk, then a climb on soft sand, then up through a wedge made by two rocks, all the while climbing on deep soft sand.
---Upper Right: one of the more beautiful & accessible arches, "Broken Arch".
---Lower Left: "The Three Gossips" - not an arch, but interesting nevertheless!
---Lower Right: "The Windows", North & South.
