CALGARY, ALBERTA - 5/19 - 5/21/09

We only spent 2 nights, which means one full day, in Calgary, and it rained all that day. We stayed near the Canadian Olympic Park, so drove over there in the rain. It is currently used both for high performance athletic training and for recreational purposes by the general public.

During the 1988 Winter Olympics, it was the primary venue for ski jumping, bobsleigh and luge. Now in the winter, the park is used for downhill skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing.

In the summer, the Park is used for warm-weather sports such as cycling (there are 16 miles of bike trails) and is also the site of a number of summer festivals. The park is also home to the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame and Museum.

It was fun to see an Olympic Venue - our photos look pretty gray because of the rain. We did get to see the different ski jumps and enjoyed the museum. You can click on the photos to enlarge them for a better view.
