---Kodachrome
State Park is
about 20 miles from Bryce Canyon, in the southwestern part of the state. It was formerly called Chimney Rock State Park, but then Kodak gave its permission to use the name.
---Situated 5800 ft. above sea level, geologists believe that Kodachrome was once similar to Yellowstone National Park with hot springs and geysers, but which eventually filled up with sediment and solidified. Through time, the sandstone surrounding the solidified geysers eroded, leaving large sand pipes. Sixty-seven sand pipes up to 165 feet tall can be found in the park.
