Luckenbach, TX & Fredericksburg, TX

While staying in San Antonio, we took our car for a day trip to Luckenbach, TX & then Fredericksburg, TX.

We wanted to go to Luckenbach because of the Waylon Jennings & Willie Nelson record "Luckenbach, Texas", that was #1 on the country charts for six weeks. http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/jennings-waylon/luckenbach-texas-10178.html

Luckenbach was established as a trading post in 1849. The town is only ten acres and has a Post Office, a Dance Hall, a Beer Joint, and a General Store. It became a favorite of Texas entertainers after the late folk humorist, Hondo Crouch, bought the entire town in 1970. Here are pix of the combo Post Office & General Store (where Irene bought postcards) & Beer Joint, both with & without Joe.

Fredericksburg was settled by Germans, so we had a German sauerbraten dinner at "der Linderman" restaurant. There were also lots of cute shops, such as "Shoulda Been a Cowboy".
