We had fun taking the paddle wheel ride on the Chena River - the one we were on was bigger - it had an additional deck.
Part of the tour included watching this pilot do some fancy maneuvers in his seaplane. As we mentioned earlier in the blog, there are so many small planes in Alaska. On this river, people had their planes tied up to a dock like you would a boat.

On the boat tour, we also got to see mushing dogs in training --- during the summer, they train by pulling the driver around in an ATV. In winter of course, they use the sled on snow. Here they're jumping around, eager to get going - just waiting for the driver.

One of the tour stops was at Chena Village, a recreation of a "first nation" site. Joe is real, the moose is not!
