Quartz Lake, Delta Junction AK - 6/12 to 6/14/09

After staying one more night in Chicken AK at a U.S. Bureau of Land Mangement campground, and then the next night in Tok AK, we moved on to Quartz Lake, in Delta Junction, the end of the "Alaska Highway", mile 1422. -----We saw this seaplane land right in front of us - we were to learn that, in Alaska, "personal" small planes are very common and the way a lot of people get around, due to the lack of roads and the great distances between some towns.

There seemed to be two "resident" moose at the lake. They came around to feed and take a dip in the early morning and at dusk. Joe took these photos at 7:00 AM - Irene woke him up and told him to hurry and get out there with the camera!
