BRAVELY CROSSING the YUKON! - June 9th

In order to get to Alaska from Dawson City, which is located right on the Yukon River, we had to take our car and our motorhome separately on that dinky little ferry boat to cross the Yukon. In the photo at left, our coach is second in line, behind Cil & Al's - both coaches fit on the ferry at the same time! Cil and Irene already crossed over, each in our separate cars. These photos were taken from the other side. That's our coach after disembarking.
-----Shortly thereafter, we all pulled over to hitch up our cars behind the coaches and start the terrible, dreaded "Top of the World Highway". Oh, if only we had known how bad it would be! Joe had been repeatedly assured that it was okay. It was 106 miles of crummy gravel & dirt roads, and we did a lot of shimmying & shaking. Our friends Al & Cil had to replace their coach windshield and we will have to replace the car windshield.
