Boulder, elevation 5430 ft., is a much larger town than Golden. It is home to the University of Colorado at Boulder and Naropa University, the only accredited Buddhist-inspired university in the country. For the second year in a row, Forbes Magazine has ranked Boulder as the smartest city in the nation. The rankings were based on the percentage of adults 25 and older with at least a bachelor's degree --- 93% of residents graduated high school, 53% of adults have at least a bachelor's degree, and 4% have a doctorate degree. These photos show the Pedestrian Mall on Pearl Street - it is several blocks long and is closed to traffic. You can only drive on the cross streets.
Boulder is located where the Rocky Moun-tains meet the Great Plains. Boulder Creek runs through the town.
---While at the Pedestrian Mall, we enjoyed our lunch at Trattoria on Pearl, sitting on the terrace and watching all of the interesting people walk by. For $10 each, we had salad, Pasta Carbonara (delicious), with iced tea for Irene and Chianti for Joe.
